slasher

took dominic for a haircut the other day and he told the stylist he wanted "rock star hair". he was then inspired to give this performance...

dominicism

so this morning, tom asked dominic about 7 times to put his toys away. each time dominic put something away, he'd come back out of his room with another toy. in a teasing manner, tom says, "you're driving me crazy". jada says, "welcome to my world".

dominic, in all seriousness says, "ya. welcome to her world".

no title, just a nice picture

nashville sight-seeing

recently, jada's mom & stepdad came to nashville for a visit; here are some of the snapshots taken during sight-seeing. keep in mind, this is 1 week after the terrible flooding. many of the stores on broadway are still closed and the ones that are open smell awful.

the photo of the grassy hills & black fence is of bill ray cyrus' property in thompson's station, tn.

the dress is dolly parton's.

dominicisms

sprout, a children's channel, is something that dominic watches in the mornings while i'm getting housework done. occasionally, he'll come to me with something exciting that he's seen on tv. here are 2 recent ones...

closet
dominic: "hey mommy! you know what? are your closets unorganized?"
mommy: "yes, they are."
dominic: "well now you can get these hangers that hold up to 20 pounds and you can fold them down! and if you order now, you can get bendy hangers and lights, too!"

cat
dominic: "hey mommy!"
mommy: "yes, dominic?"
dominic: "did you know that if you ever have a cat you can have this scratchy post that keeps their nails trimmed?"
mommy: "wow! that's neat!"
dominic: "are you 18? 'cuz you have to be 18 to order."

tennessee flood update

the rain has finally ended. it has rained heavily here in franklin for 38 straight hours, dumping over 14 inches. we are safe - first and foremost.

we are under curfew, not allowed to leave our home after 6pm as most roadways are under water or washed away in several parts. the roads that are open/not damaged are supposed to be kept clear for emergency workers.

nashville has been declared a disaster area. the cumberland river has overflowed its banks and is causing a lot of damage. in addition to the rivers overflowing, most low lying areas are flooded simply due to the amount of rain. parking lots (in lower areas) are flooded up to car roofs. we've seen things on the news today that used to seem far from reality for us... but now, it's right out of our window! it's very scarey. so many people have lost their homes and more.

we are unsure if our stuff in storage is okay. the owner of the storage place said half the units were flooding but she thinks our unit was on a bit of higher ground. so we're keeping our fingers crossed, though even if our stuff isn't okay... it's most important that WE are okay.

this week, dominic & jada are going to help our neighbors in franklin by donating groceries and cleaning supplies. if anyone wishes to help in other ways, please visit www.hon.org.

love to all our friends and family from a soggy tennessee!

now, dominic would like to type this message to you:

hey noah, got room for a few more?

in case you didn't catch the weather news on the weather channel, tennessee received over a foot of rain today, causing flash flooding. even the major interstates into nashville had to be closed because of rivers overflowing their banks. here is our documentation of this weather.
