the rain has finally ended. it has rained heavily here in franklin for 38 straight hours, dumping over 14 inches. we are safe - first and foremost.
we are under curfew, not allowed to leave our home after 6pm as most roadways are under water or washed away in several parts. the roads that are open/not damaged are supposed to be kept clear for emergency workers.
nashville has been declared a disaster area. the cumberland river has overflowed its banks and is causing a lot of damage. in addition to the rivers overflowing, most low lying areas are flooded simply due to the amount of rain. parking lots (in lower areas) are flooded up to car roofs. we've seen things on the news today that used to seem far from reality for us... but now, it's right out of our window! it's very scarey. so many people have lost their homes and more.
we are unsure if our stuff in storage is okay. the owner of the storage place said half the units were flooding but she thinks our unit was on a bit of higher ground. so we're keeping our fingers crossed, though even if our stuff isn't okay... it's most important that WE are okay.
this week, dominic & jada are going to help our neighbors in franklin by donating groceries and cleaning supplies. if anyone wishes to help in other ways, please visit www.hon.org.
love to all our friends and family from a soggy tennessee!
