A day with "Old Hickory"

Dominic did some out-of-the-classroom learning with mom today! January 8 marks the 198th anniversary of the Battle of New Orleans, during which Andrew "Old Hickory" Jackson and his men defeated the British soldiers. Today at Jackson's home (now museum), there was a special event to commemorate his victory which included tours, a children's fact scavenger hunt, and a speech by author Jon Meachum. We had fun while learning a lot!
